Biography

Amrutha S

M.Sc. Biochemistry, B.Ed (Life Science)

Senior Research Fellow

Amrutha S. is a Ph.D. Scholar in Neuroscience at CSBMM, Yenepoya Research Centre, Mangalore. She holds a B.Ed. from Sai Shankar Educational Institutions and an M.Sc. in Biochemistry from Jnana Kaveri Post-Graduation Centre, Chikka Aluvara (Mangalore University), completed in 2020. During her doctoral studies, she further enriched her expertise through a two-month SERB-Vritika internship in Cognitive Science at IIT Delhi. Her research explores the neuroprotective effects of traditional nootropic plants in Alzheimer’s and Parkinson’s disease using molecular biology, proteomics, and metabolomics to understand signalling mechanisms in in vitro and in vivo models. Amrutha’s core expertise lies in the neurobehavioral assessment of memory and cognition. She is currently translating her research through comprehensive behavioural studies using APP/PS1 transgenic mice at the Indian Institute of Science (IISc), Bangalore. By integrating these behavioural findings with molecular data, she aims to provide a holistic understanding of neurodegeneration and validate the efficacy of potential nootropic interventions.
