Biography
Mohan B Appaiahgari
Ph.D.
Associate Professor
Dr. Mohan B Appaiahgari is a Virologist by education and research training. He obtained master’s degree in virology from Sri Venkateswara University, Tirupati, and doctoral degree in virology-cum-biotechnology from Jamia Hamdard, New Delhi. He has strong inclination for translational research and his notable achievements include identification of potential biomarkers, development of novel vaccine candidates having commercialization potential, identification of novel antiviral therapeutic candidates, clinical development of a human vaccine, etc. Besides, he has ongoing interests in basic, translational and diagnostic virology. Post- Ph.D., he briefly worked as an awardee at THSTI, Faridabad, and later joined as Faculty Scientist. He published in various international journals and also has patents to his credit. In 2018, he founded a startup and pursued a BIRAC-funded project on the development of a novel poultry vaccine, wherein its superiority over existing vaccine is successfully established. Recently, through collaborative efforts, they identified novel drug targets in SARS-CoV-2 replication.
